walk in silence
Daul Kim is one of my favorite model: beautiful, intelligent and uncompromising. Amongst the sea of faceless, characterless clones, she is unique.
The news of her passing is upsetting, and I sincerely offer condolences to her families and friends.

fail again. fail better
Still feeling sick as a dog so not really doing my amazing Samantha Pleet dress justice. The dress comes as an early Christmas and birthday present (fuck, 24!) to myself, and I've got to say the cut and quality is absolutely AMAZING. Totally worth boycutting Topshop for 6 months.
Necklace: H&M
Tights: House of Holland
Shoes: Opening Ceremony
More pictures as soon as I'm not sneezing over it.

Anna Anna
Having FINALLY watched Kamikaze Girls (seriously, go see it on youtube, it’s AMAZING) last week, I’m pretty much on an Anna Tschiya kick. The girl kicks ass, literally and metaphorically. She is also one of the people that I would actually want to, erm, sound like. Oh the lure of the husky smoker voice (sorry if that comes across marginally creepy...)

all photos and scans from the excellect Anna and Olivia
Incidentally, browsing Japanese pop stars satisfies some much needed magazine fix. If I seem like a total Japanophile at the moment, it is because I find the UK editions of Elle, Vogue, ID etal somehow lackluster. It’s refreshing to flip open a magazine and not to recognize ANYBODY (even if I did posted about Agyness Deyn yesterday, feel free to sing that Alanis Morissette song by the way).

The Metamorphosis

photos from: TFSIf the media attention on Agyness Deyn these days is anything to by, there seems to be a gradual diminishment of hysteria in perceiving her as the next BRITISH FASHION ICON. This is a blessing in itself, because I do think Miss Deyn is really coming into her element since she abandons the ridiculous neon and Union Jacks and start wearing the kind well cut, androgynous 'punk' outfits that actually do suits her to a T. On top of that, those Hasbeen esque boots (thanks for the heads up Claire!) are very possibly my new favorite tyepe of footwear.
wrap your troubles with dreams
Although I hold the philosophy that comfort dressing is not just for winter, there is something very satisfying about wrapping myself up in endless fabrics when its five degree outside. Grey Uniqlo heat tech under a trusty plaid dress, fluffy cardigan topped up with a huge hooded fur parka, and I'm ready to revive the unholy combination of baggy meets twee.
The irony with all this heat insulations however is that they still hadn’t stopped me from coming down with a cold. Though the fault is largely my own as I insisted on trekking to the pub in the storm on Saturday (maybe it’s the British in me calling, but I just feel like I…have to go). I’ve been spending the rest of the weekend sleeping and sniffling through reruns of The Thick of It. For some inexplicable reason, watching Malcom Tucker swearing up a storm is equally heart warming as layers.
ps: do check out the excellent T by Alexander Wang collection at I Don't Like Mondays at the moment. I may have, erm, 'invested' in this striped top, it's impossible to have too many you know...

the new black
photos from: Das Neue Schwarz
Barring the occasional foray into Kitbits and Persephone’s Vintage, I'm not really a huge vintage shopper (for I like clothes with history, but I also like clothes that doesn’t, ah, smell). So it is with some degree curiosity that I received an email from Tanya at Das Neue Schwarz, a new online vintage boutique from Berlin, and I was pleasantly surprised.
The stock is a cut above the average polyester meets polka dots fair, where second hand Anna D nestled alongside Acne blouses and Margiela. The home décor section also has some intriguing tidbits that makes the site overall worth a rummage (and the understated, very Berlin styling makes me feel just a little bit edgier).

Olivia

scans from: Olivia Lufkin onlineHaving spent the weekend sorting through some ancient copies of Kera and Zipper, I discovered some forgotten past style icons, one of which was the J pop singer Olivia Lufkin. I adored her mixtures of French chic meet Japanese street style, which was actually kind of radical amongst the parade of goth lolis and SEX POT REVENGE! punks.
